Manufacturing process management (MPM)
Manufacturing process management (MPM) is planning how a product gets built: the manufacturing BOM, operations, sequence, resources and work instructions, kept connected to the engineering design.
Without MPM, process plans live in spreadsheets, Word files and the heads of a few manufacturing engineers. That works until engineering changes something and nobody knows which instructions are now wrong.
PTC’s term for doing this well is “Manufacturing As Designed”: the plant builds what engineering released, because the plan is tied to it.
