Implemented PTC Windchill and MPM Link

People

We outlined new roles and responsibilities and implemented them as part of the process changes.

Process

We defined an integrated process from design engineering to manufacturing engineering to the shop floor.

Technology

We deployed PTC Windchill and MPM Link to integrate their core manufacturing systems and optimize the data flows.

Situation

A recognized global leader in personal aviation manufacturing was struggling to streamline communication internally. Systems and data didn’t speak to one another, and people were operating in silos.

  • Needed to increase sales velocity and lower overhead
  • Manufacturing systems operated in silos with manual processes linking Items, BOMs, and Routings
  • Could not create a model at scale without integrating processes and data across the organization

Solutions

  • Created an automated integration across the Engineering Bills of Material (EBOM) and the Manufacturing Bills of Material (MBOM)
  • Action plan to achieve 3D Visualization from engineering through Digital Manufacturing Work Instructions
  • Business process guidance to align best practices for MPM integration into MES system
  • Providing roadmap and guidance for phasing in technology and process improvements

Results

The six-month engagement
  • Implemented data solutions that increased new product launch time frames while lowering engineering and production overhead.
  • Established clear, repeatable processes that ensured ongoing performance with client staff
Revenue acceleration
  • Improved aircraft throughput from order to delivery
  • Increased capacity for aircraft production
Cost savings
  • Decreased internal labor content in aircraft design and build
  • Reduced use of contract labor
  • Decreased material shortages and expediting while increasing negotiating leverage
